No. At the end of Crew Girl Season 1, Teagan Tao (Miku Martineau) hasn't chosen either boy. Josh Regis (Sam Braun) asks her for another chance, and minutes later Cam Dillinger (Kyle Clark) kisses her.

This page explains the whole of Season 1, ending included.

What happens at the end of Crew Girl?

The finale is built around the Haverford Cup, Easton's home regatta, where the school hasn't reached the podium in years.

Race officials rule that a rowing machine at the earlier indoor qualifiers was tampered with, by either Teagan or Cam. The principal orders Coach Matt Hayden (Thomas Cadrot) to pull whoever did it from the boat. Teagan owns up and steps aside.

Then the crew refuses to row without her. One by one, every rower backs her, and Hayden puts her back in.

Before the race, Josh gives up the stroke seat to Cam, the best rower in the boat, who has been passed over for it all season. Easton takes silver, beating rival Westvale, and gets back on the podium.

Afterwards, the principal realises both Teagan and Cam raced. Hayden takes the blame for letting them, and she fires him.

Does Teagan end up with Josh or Cam in Crew Girl?

Neither, officially. Josh tells Teagan he has a lot of work to do on himself, and that he hopes she'll give him another chance when he's done. Moments later, Cam finds her in the boathouse and kisses her.

There is trouble built into that kiss, because Cam still doesn't know what happened between Teagan and Josh. Kyle Clark has said Cam could feel betrayed when he finds out.

You can read the ending two ways. Cam gets the last romantic moment of the season, which gives him the edge. But Josh's exit is clearly a setup too: showrunner Vivian Lin told TheWrap that Josh has to "build a better Josh" before he can be a worthy part of the triangle. Our read is less romantic. Coming straight after Josh's goodbye, the kiss plays as Teagan keeping both boys on the hook.

Lin says she goes back and forth on the triangle herself. Martineau says Teagan is still figuring it out, and joked about a love square.

Who broke the oar in Crew Girl?

Because of his heart. Josh has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a heart condition that makes rowing dangerous. He had been hiding it, and getting medication from a doctor he bribed. He sawed through his own oar because he was afraid his heart would give out mid-race.

What Is a Coxswain? Crew Girl's Rowing Terms Explained stillUnscrewed

What Is a Coxswain?

A coxswain steers the boat and calls the race without rowing. Here are the key rowing terms Crew Girl expects you to know.

The team first blamed Logan (Tyler Roberge), a rower from rival Westvale who had been left alone in the boathouse after hooking up with Baloo Garner (Jude Wilson). Logan later told Baloo the truth, and the two got back together.

In the finale, Josh confesses the sabotage to the crew, but he tells them he choked under pressure, not the real reason.

What's next for Josh Regis?

Rowing, at least, looks finished. After the Haverford Cup, Josh tells his family it was his last race and reveals his heart condition. Once his grandfather has walked away, he tells his father it can be treated with surgery.

Sam Braun is less sure. He says it depends on how the surgery goes, calls it a fresh start for Josh, and joked that it would be fun to see Josh coach the girls' team.

What happens to the Regis family in Crew Girl?

It splits. Josh's grandfather, Viktor Regis (Ted Cole), is dismissive about the heart condition and suggests the family business will now look to Ryder Regis (Connor Paton), Josh's cousin, instead.

His father, Richard Regis (Niall Matter), steps in and backs Josh, even though it costs him the patriarch's favour. Lin told TheWrap the two are now on the outs, but that they have each other.

What does Britney do at the end of Crew Girl?

In the story, yes. By the end of the finale, Britney Garner (Sage Linder), Josh's ex and Baloo's sister, has been quietly learning to row, and she has talked the school into starting a girls' team, with a wealthy donor from her own family behind it. Her reason is revenge: the best way to get over a guy, she tells Baloo, is to beat him and take everything he loves.

That hands Teagan the thing she wanted in the first episode, on her rival's terms. She came to Easton as a single sculler, and coxing was the compromise she made when the school had no girls' team. Martineau has said Teagan will struggle to choose between the boys' boat and her own rowing career.

What happens to Coach Hayden and David Tao?

Hayden is out of a job, so Easton's crew has no coach going into a possible second season.

Teagan's father, David Tao (Byron Lawson), who ran after the FBI raided the family home in the first episode, watches her race and then turns himself in. Teagan had told him she would rather know where he was than keep wondering.

What Crew Girl Season 2 would have to answer

A lot. Whether Teagan picks Josh or Cam, and what happens when Cam learns the truth. Whether she rows for Britney's team. Whether Josh rows again, and who he is if he doesn't. Who coaches Easton now. And what happens to David.

Netflix hasn't renewed the show yet. Our Season 2 page tracks the decision, and our Season 1 review has the verdict.
